Paint or Seek is a hide-and-seek game on Roblox where you use painting mechanics to camouflage yourself and avoid being found. By the end of this guide, you'll understand the core gameplay loop and how to stay hidden long enough to win.

The Basic Goal

Each round splits players into two roles: Hiders and Seekers. If you start as a Hider, your job is to paint yourself to match walls, floors, and other objects in the map so Seekers can't spot you. Survive the entire round without being found, and you win. If a Seeker finds you, you're out—but you get to join the Seekers and help hunt the remaining Hiders.

💡 Tip — The game is inspired by the concept of blending camouflage, like a chameleon changing color to hide in plain sight.

How to Paint Yourself

Your main tool as a Hider is the painting system. Use the paint tools available to you to change your color and appearance. The goal is to match the colors and textures around you so you become nearly invisible to the Seekers. The more accurately you paint yourself, the harder you'll be to spot.

Blending Into Your Environment

To stay hidden, find spots on the map where you can blend in:

  • Walls and floors — Paint yourself the same color as nearby surfaces and stand still against them.
  • Objects — Match the color of furniture, crates, or other environmental props to hide in plain sight.
  • Stay still — Movement draws attention. Once you've painted yourself and found a good spot, minimize movement to avoid detection.
💡 Tip — The best hiding spots are areas with solid, single-color backgrounds that match your painted appearance.

What Happens if You Get Caught

If a Seeker finds and catches you, you don't lose the game entirely. Instead, you join the Seekers and help hunt down the remaining Hiders. This keeps all players engaged throughout the round, even if you weren't able to hide successfully.

Winning and the Leaderboard

Hiders win by surviving the entire round without being caught. Every win you earn is tracked on the leaderboard, so you can climb the ranks as you improve your hiding and camouflage skills. The more rounds you survive as a Hider, the higher you climb.

💡 Tip — Practice finding new hiding spots on each map. Seekers learn common spots, so switching locations between rounds keeps you harder to find.
