Forsaken is an asymmetrical survival experience where survivors must complete objectives and outlast a timer while killers hunt them down. It's intense, so here are the core strategies to master as you start.

Note: This game contains flashing lights and loud audio. It's not recommended for players who are epileptic. Make sure your audio is at a comfortable level before you begin.

Understand Your Role

When you enter a match, you'll be on one of two teams. Survivors work together to complete objectives and survive until the timer runs out. Killers hunt survivors and need to eliminate them all. Choose whichever playstyle appeals to you — your whole experience depends on it.

Survivors: Stay Together

Stick with your teammates. A lone survivor is an easy target. When you move as a group, killers have a harder time isolating and eliminating you. Plus, your team can cover more ground when searching for objectives or escaping threats. Communication matters, even if it's just staying visible to each other.

Survivors: Learn the Objectives

Your main job isn't just survival — you have specific objectives to complete. Find out what tasks your team needs to finish before time runs out. Completing them might be easier than running forever, so prioritize them alongside staying alive.

Survivors: Watch the Timer

You win by surviving until the timer hits zero. That means you don't have to outsmart killers forever — just long enough. If you're in a tough spot, sometimes running out the clock is the actual strategy. Keep an eye on how much time is left and adjust your approach accordingly.

Killers: Hunt Strategically

You need to eliminate all survivors before the timer runs out. Don't waste energy chasing one person across the map if others are completing objectives nearby. Pick targets wisely and eliminate threats to the objective first. Control the map and cut off escape routes.

Killers: Separate Survivors

Survivors are strongest in numbers. If you can split them up or catch one alone, your job becomes much easier. Use the map to your advantage — cut off routes, hide around corners, and force them into situations where they can't protect each other.

Learn the Map Layout

Whether you're a survivor or killer, map knowledge is crucial. Survivors need to know where to hide, where objectives spawn, and which routes offer escape. Killers need to understand choke points, hiding spots, and objective locations. Play multiple rounds on the same map to get familiar with it.

Use Audio Cues

Forsaken includes loud audio design, which actually helps you play better. Listen for footsteps, warnings, and environmental sounds. These cues tell you when danger is near or when objectives are close. Turn your volume to a level that's loud enough to hear details but not so loud that it's uncomfortable.

💡 Tip — Always assume killers might be around the corner. Even when exploring for objectives, stay alert and have an escape plan.

Complete Quests to Unlock New Survivors

New survivors like Jane Doe can be unlocked by completing quests. These new characters bring fresh playstyles to the survivor team. Check the quest log regularly and work toward unlocking them as you progress.

Expect Alpha Changes

Forsaken is in alpha, which means the game is still being developed. Balance changes, new features, and bug fixes happen regularly. Don't get attached to strategies that might change, and report issues if you find them. Being adaptable is part of the early-game experience.
