Heroes Battlegrounds is a competitive fighting game where you pick a hero or villain and battle other players to prove you're the strongest. You'll punch, dodge, block, and unleash devastating ultimates in intense 1v1 and group fights.

The game runs on all devices—PC, console, and mobile—so you can play however you want. As you fight, you'll unlock mastered versions of characters that make you stronger and unlock new abilities.

Your First 30 Seconds

When you spawn in:

  1. You'll see the map and nearby players.
  2. Click your character to confirm your selection if prompted.
  3. Look for opponents or NPCs to start fighting immediately.

Core Controls

Here's what you need to do basic combat (keyboard on PC):

Action Key
Punch Left Click
Jump + Punch (Downslam) Jump, then Left Click
Block F
Dash Q
Recovery Dash (while ragdolled) Q
Ultimate Ability G
Emote Menu B

On mobile or console: Your controls will adapt to your device—buttons map to the same actions, just in different locations on your screen.

The Main Loop

Every fight follows the same rhythm:

  1. Approach: Move toward your opponent or wait for them to come to you.
  2. Attack: Tap left click to throw punches. String combos together for more damage.
  3. Defend: Hold F to block incoming hits, or press Q to dash away.
  4. Ultimate: When your bar fills, press G to unleash a powerful move that can turn the fight.
  5. Win or Respawn: Defeat your opponent to rack up wins, or respawn and try again.
💡 Tip — Don't just spam punches. Mix in blocks and dashes to dodge attacks and stay safe while you wait for your ultimate.

Combat Mechanics

Punching: Left click rapidly for basic damage. Combos reward fast, consistent hits.

Downslam: Jump and click to slam down on opponents below you. This move can interrupt attacks and deal extra damage if you catch someone off-guard.

Blocking: Hold F to reduce damage from incoming attacks. You can't attack while blocking, so use it to survive bursts, then counter-attack.

Dashing: Press Q to dodge sideways or backward quickly. Use this to escape corners, avoid ultimates, or reposition for a better angle.

Ragdoll Recovery: If you get knocked down and ragdoll (lose control), press Q again to recover faster and get back in the fight.

Ultimate Ability: Each character has a unique ultimate (G). These are powerful moves that charge as you fight. Save them for high-damage combos or to escape danger.

💡 Tip — Ultimates have long cooldowns, so use them when they'll secure a win, not just for a quick hit.

Early Goals

In your first session, aim for:

  • Land 10 hits: Get comfortable with the punch rhythm and learn how fast you need to click.
  • Block 5 attacks: Practice timing your blocks to survive longer.
  • Land your first ultimate: Get a feel for when your ability bar is full and how the move works.
  • Win 1 fight: Whether it's against an NPC or another player, a victory teaches you what works.
  • Unlock a second character: Try a different hero or villain to see if you prefer a different playstyle.

Character Progression

As you fight, you'll earn rewards and unlock new versions of characters:

  • Mastered Characters: Unlocking these upgraded versions makes your character stronger, faster, or gives new abilities.
  • Defeat Bosses: Fight special boss NPCs to earn rare rewards and progress faster.
  • Multiple Heroes/Villains: Try different characters to find your favorite. Each one plays differently.
💡 Tip — Don't stick with one character forever. Test new ones to find a playstyle that clicks for you.

Common Beginner Mistakes

Spamming Punches: Holding down left click doesn't help. Tap it rhythmically for better combos and damage.

Never Blocking: New players often attack constantly. You'll lose fights faster. Block when you're in danger, then counter-attack.

Wasting Ultimates: Don't use your ultimate the second it's ready. Save it for combos or to finish weakened opponents.

Ignoring Dash: Dashing is your escape. Use it to dodge attacks and reset fights when you're overwhelmed.

Fighting Mindlessly: Pay attention to your opponent's patterns. Do they always attack after blocking? Do they rush in? Adapt your strategy.

Next Steps

Once you've won a few fights and feel comfortable with controls:

  • Try fighting other players instead of just NPCs—they're less predictable and will teach you faster.
  • Unlock and upgrade new characters to expand your toolkit.
  • Watch for patterns in how other players play and copy their strategies.
  • Push for longer win streaks to climb the leaderboard and earn recognition.
