BedWars is a thrilling team-based game where protecting your bed is everything. Once it's destroyed, you can't respawn anymore—so the stakes are high. If you're new to the game, learning the fundamentals will help you survive longer and contribute to your team's victory.
Here's what you need to know to get started:
Understand the Core Objective
Your main goal is to protect your bed while destroying the enemy team's bed. Once your bed is gone, you can no longer respawn when you die. This single mechanic makes BedWars different from other games—every life becomes much more valuable as the game progresses. Keep this in mind when you're deciding whether to rush into combat or play it safe.
Start by Gathering Resources
At the beginning of the game, focus on collecting resources around your base. These resources let you purchase items and upgrades that make you stronger. The more efficient you are at farming early on, the faster you can gear up and help your team. Don't ignore resource collection just to fight—it's your foundation for success.
Use Team Upgrades Wisely
Part of your resource spending should go toward team upgrades. These upgrades benefit your entire team, making everyone stronger together. Prioritize upgrades that help your team survive and deal more damage. Coordinate with teammates to decide which upgrades to buy first.
Defend Your Bed Actively
Don't just assume your bed is safe because enemies are far away. Station yourself near it, especially as the game heats up. A teammate sitting near the bed can spot incoming threats early and respond faster. If you see enemies heading toward your base, call it out to your team immediately.
Know Your Controls
Mastering the control scheme helps you react faster in combat. Here are the default PC controls:
- [Shift] — Sprint to move faster
- [E] — Open your inventory
- [H] — Drop items you don't need
- [G] — Ping teammates (useful for callouts)
- [TAB] — View the scoreboard and check enemy status
- [Ctrl] — Lock your camera in place
- [T] — Use the emote wheel
- [F1] — Toggle picture mode
On mobile, button positions and sizes are customizable in settings, so adjust them to feel comfortable for you.
Stay With Your Team
Splitting up is dangerous in BedWars. When you wander off alone, enemies can ambush you and eliminate you before your teammates can help. Stick together, share resources, and coordinate attacks. A unified team is much harder to beat than scattered players.
Watch the Scoreboard
Press [TAB] regularly to check the scoreboard. It shows you which teams are ahead, who's still alive, and who's been eliminated. This information helps you decide whether to push forward or play defensive. If your team is down in players, be extra careful near the enemy base.
Manage Your Inventory
Your inventory has limited space, so drop items you don't immediately need. If you pick up resources but can't carry them, you'll waste time. Use [H] to drop items and [E] to open your inventory and swap gear. Keep your most important weapons and tools easily accessible.
Communicate With Pings
Not everyone uses voice chat, so use the ping system ([G]) to communicate. Ping enemy locations, your bed when it's under attack, or areas where you need backup. Quick pings are faster than typing and help your team react instantly.
Balance Offense and Defense
Early game is about building resources and staying alive. Mid-game, you can start attacking enemy teams. Late game, bed destruction becomes the priority. Don't spend all game attacking if your own bed is vulnerable. Always keep an eye on both sides of the battle.
Learn From Each Game
Every match teaches you something. Notice what strategies worked and what didn't. Pay attention to how experienced players move, where they position themselves, and how they manage resources. The more you play, the better your instincts will become.
