ABA is an anime-themed fighting game where timing and combos matter. Whether you're just starting out or preparing for tougher opponents, mastering the fundamentals will make a real difference in your matches.
Learn the Basics
Get comfortable with the core controls first. Your main attack is Mouse1, which lets you hit enemies with a basic combo. Shift lets you sprint to close gaps or escape danger. Q is your dodge button — use it to sidestep incoming attacks. F blocks damage, and Space+Mouse1 performs an aerial attack that launches you into the air. Once you know where each button is, everything else becomes easier to learn.
Use Dodge Wisely
Dodging with Q is your best defensive tool, but it has timing. Don't mash it randomly — wait to see an opponent's attack coming, then dodge at the last moment. This lets you avoid damage and set up a counter-attack. Dodging also helps you reposition during fights, so you're not stuck in one spot taking hits.
Block to Survive
Holding F reduces the damage you take from attacks. While blocking, you can't attack, so it's not a permanent solution — use it to buy time while you plan your next move or wait for a cooldown. If you're overwhelmed, blocking buys you a second to breathe and dodge away safely.
Master Basic Attack Strings
Tapping Mouse1 repeatedly creates a combo string. These attacks flow into each other if you time them right. Experiment with how many hits you can chain before your opponent breaks free or you need to dodge. Landing full combos deals solid damage and looks clean.
Aerial Attacks Change the Fight
Space+Mouse1 launches you into the air with an aerial attack. This move opens up new angles of attack and lets you hit opponents who are far away. Try mixing aerials into your basic attack strings — the game rewards you with new combos when you blend them together. Don't just use it randomly; time it to catch opponents off-guard or to extend a combo.
Discover Combos
The game unlocks new combos when you combine basic attacks and aerials in different orders. There's no set list of combos here — experimentation is part of the fun. Try pressing basic attack three times, then an aerial. Try alternating between them. Some sequences flow into each other and create bigger damage windows. Keep notes on what works so you can repeat it in matches.
Use Special Moves Strategically
Keys 1, 2, 3, and 4 trigger your character's special moves. Each one has a different effect — some deal heavy damage, some control the battlefield, and some help you escape. Learn what each special does, when it's safe to use it, and which situations call for it. Special moves often have cooldowns, so don't waste them on basic trades.
Transformation Is a Game Changer
Press G to activate a transformation. This mode changes your moveset, stats, or appearance and usually gives you a temporary power boost. Transformations are powerful but might have a time limit or energy cost. Use them when you need a big advantage — either to turn the tide of a losing fight or to finish off an already-weakened opponent.
Practice Footwork
Good positioning wins fights. Don't stand still — move around your opponent, use dodges to reposition, and sprint to stay at the distance you want. If you're far away, sprint closer. If you're getting overwhelmed, dodge back and reset. Players who control space win more often than players who just mash buttons.
Watch Your Opponent
Before you attack, watch what your opponent does. Do they dodge a lot? Throw a special move after your combo to catch them in recovery. Do they block constantly? Look for ways to break through or use moves that bypass defense. Adapting to your opponent's habits makes you way harder to beat.
