RIVALS is an intense first-person shooter on Roblox where you battle other players in duels. Matches range from 1v1 to 5v5, and the first team or player to reach 5 wins takes the match. It's fast-paced, competitive, and available on Desktop, Mobile, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.
Whether you're brand new or just picked it up, here's everything you need to know to jump into your first duel.
Your First 10 Minutes
Step 1: Load the game and enter the lobby. When you start RIVALS, you'll spawn in a lobby area. Look for other players, and get familiar with the environment. You can move freely and interact with other players here.
Step 2: Find a duel pad. Throughout the lobby, there are duel pads on the ground. Walk onto one and you'll issue a challenge to another player. They can accept it to start your first 1v1 match.
Step 3: Your first duel begins. Once both players accept, you'll be matched and the round starts. You'll spawn on opposite sides of the arena with a default weapon. The goal is simple: get 5 eliminations before your opponent does.
Step 4: Use your movement and aim. Move around the map using standard Roblox controls (WASD). Look around with your mouse (or controller stick). Point your crosshair at enemies and shoot to eliminate them. Stay aware of your surroundings โ experienced players will try to outposition you.
Step 5: Win or learn. If you reach 5 eliminations first, you win. If your opponent reaches 5 first, they win. Either way, you'll return to the lobby. Keep challenging and playing to improve.
How Matches Work
Each duel is a race to 5 eliminations. The match ends immediately once one team or player hits that number. Matches are fast โ you're not playing long rounds; you're playing intense bursts of combat.
You can play solo (1v1) or team up in larger matches (2v2, 3v3, up to 5v5). Team matches require coordination with teammates, but the same goal applies: reach 5 eliminations first.
Controls and Shooting
Movement: Use WASD (or arrow keys) to move in any direction. You can strafe left and right while aiming, which is crucial for dodging shots.
Aiming and Shooting: Look around with your mouse or controller stick. Your crosshair shows where you'll shoot. Left-click (or RT on controller) to fire. Each weapon has different fire rates โ some are rapid-fire, others are single-shot or burst-fire.
Switching Weapons: You can carry multiple weapons. Press a number key or scroll to switch between them (or use controller bumpers). Start with your default weapon, but learn to swap quickly in combat.
Jumping: Press Space to jump. Use jumping to escape danger, reach higher ground, or dodge incoming fire.
Weapons and Keys
RIVALS has different weapons with unique properties. You start with a basic weapon, but you can unlock new ones using keys. Keys are earned through gameplay โ play matches, complete challenges, and rack up wins to earn them.
When you collect a key, you can unlock a new weapon or cosmetic skin. Try different weapons to find your playstyle. Some players prefer accuracy; others like high fire rates. Experiment early on to see what clicks for you.
Contracts and Progression
RIVALS has contracts โ special objectives you can complete for exclusive rewards. These might ask you to get a certain number of eliminations, win a specific number of matches, or perform certain actions in duels.
Completing contracts earns you rewards that you can't get any other way, so check them regularly. They also guide you toward specific goals, which keeps early gameplay focused and rewarding.
The Leaderboard and Win Streaks
RIVALS tracks your win streak โ how many duels you win in a row. The longer your streak, the higher you climb the leaderboard. Win streaks are public, so beating other players and climbing the rankings is how you show off your skill.
The leaderboard resets periodically, so there's always a chance to climb back to the top. Every duel counts toward your progression.
Common Beginner Mistakes to Avoid
Standing still: Don't stay in one spot. Moving targets are harder to hit. Keep moving, even if you're just strafing side to side.
Ignoring audio cues: You can hear your opponent's footsteps and gunshots. Use sound to track where enemies are, especially if you can't see them on screen.
Panicking and spraying: When you see an enemy, resist the urge to hold down the trigger and spray. Take controlled shots and focus on accuracy. Most weapons reward precise aim over just shooting everywhere.
Fighting in the open: Maps have cover, walls, and obstacles. Use them. Don't push out into open ground unless you have a clear advantage.
Tunnel vision: Don't focus only on one enemy. Stay aware of the whole map and watch for enemies coming from other angles.
What Not to Do: Anti-Cheat Warning
RIVALS has a strict anti-cheat system and active moderation. Cheating โ including using unauthorized exploits, glitches, or farming methods โ will get you permanently banned with no second chances. The same goes for abusing known bugs.
Play fair, have fun, and compete on an even playing field. That's the only way to earn respect on the leaderboards.
