Penalty Kicks! is a straightforward but competitive 1v1 game. You and your opponent take turns: one shoots, one defends. First to win 5 rounds takes the match. Every goal you score and every save you make builds your path to victory.

Know the Two Roles

Every match puts you in one of two positions.

Kicker: You aim and shoot the ball toward the goal. Your job is to place the ball in a spot your opponent can't reach.

Goalie: You defend the goal. You must predict where your opponent will shoot and move to block it.

You'll play both roles in the same match, so learn to excel at each.

As a Kicker: Aim Unpredictably

The core mechanic for kickers is placement. Don't shoot the same spot twice in a row, or your opponent will catch on and wait there.

  • Mix up your shots between left, right, center, high, and low.
  • If you scored in the top-left corner last round, aim bottom-right this time.
  • Force your opponent to guess. The less predictable you are, the more likely they'll guess wrong.
💡 Tip — Never fall into a rhythm. Your opponent is watching. Change your strategy every few shots.

As a Goalie: Read Your Opponent

Goalies win by anticipation. You can't move fast enough to react to every shot, so you must predict where the ball is going before it's kicked.

  • Watch your opponent's aim cursor or aiming preview.
  • Notice which corners and edges they favor.
  • Position yourself in the spot you think they'll shoot.
  • If your instinct says top-right, commit to it.

Watch for Patterns

Most beginners develop habits without realizing it. A kicker might favor high shots, or always aim to their left. As a goalie, exploit this.

  • After 2–3 rounds, you'll start seeing patterns in how your opponent shoots.
  • Once you spot a habit, position yourself to counter it in the next round.
  • If they're predictable, you'll dominate.

As a kicker, be aware of this too. If you know your opponent has figured you out, change your strategy mid-match.

Aim for the Corners

The hardest shots to defend are in the corners. A ball in the far top-left or bottom-right is nearly impossible for a goalie to reach in time.

  • Aim for the outer edges of the goal whenever possible.
  • Center shots are the easiest to block, so avoid them.
  • Mix corner shots with occasional mid-goal shots to keep your opponent guessing.

Stay Calm Under Pressure

When the match is close—like 4–4—one shot decides everything. Don't panic.

  • Take a breath before you shoot or defend.
  • As a kicker, commit to your aim and execute it cleanly.
  • As a goalie, trust your read and plant yourself in one spot. Hesitation costs you saves.
💡 Tip — The player who stays composed in round 5 usually wins. Don't let nerves rush your decision.

Earn Cash and Unlock Cosmetics

Every win earns you cash. Use it to unlock new skins, goal explosions, and other cosmetics. While cosmetics don't change gameplay, they're a reward for grinding and add flair to your celebrations.

Practice Your Timing

Both kickers and goalies benefit from practice. Play multiple matches against different opponents to sharpen your instincts.

  • Your first few games will feel slow. This is normal.
  • After 10–20 matches, you'll start reading shots and aiming faster.
  • Each opponent plays differently, so stay flexible.
💡 Tip — Play the same opponent a few times if you can. Learning their personal shooting habits is one of the fastest ways to improve.
