Murder Mystery 2 is a social deduction game where you're assigned a random role each round. What you do depends on your role—innocents run and hide, the sheriff has a gun to protect, and the murderer hunts everyone down. Understanding your role and what to do is the key to survival and victory.

The Three Roles

Innocents are the most common role. Your job is to survive the round by staying away from the murderer. You have no weapon, so hiding and running are your best options. You can also use your detective skills to figure out who the murderer is and call them out to other players.

The Sheriff is on the innocent team but has a special advantage: a gun. You're the only player with a weapon, so you're the main defense against the murderer. If you can spot the murderer and shoot them, innocents win. Protecting yourself and other innocents is your priority.

The Murderer wins if they eliminate all innocents before the sheriff stops them. You have a knife and hunting speed, making you faster and more dangerous than innocents. Your goal is simple: get everyone before the sheriff gets you.

💡 Tip — If you're innocent, stick with other players or hide in secure spots. Murderers hunt isolated targets first.

How to Play as an Innocent

  1. Move away from where the murderer spawns. Don't hang around the main gathering area.
  2. Find hiding spots or rooms that offer protection. Closed spaces are safer than open ones.
  3. Watch other players' behavior. If someone is hunting alone or moving strangely, they might be the murderer.
  4. Communicate with other innocents. Call out suspicious players when you can.
  5. Stay alive until the murderer is eliminated or time runs out.
💡 Tip — Running in a straight line makes you an easy target. Change direction and use the map's layout to break line of sight.

How to Play as the Sheriff

  1. Keep your gun ready at all times. You're the only defense against the murderer.
  2. Watch for suspicious movement. The murderer will be chasing innocents more aggressively than normal players.
  3. Patrol areas where innocents gather. Your presence deters the murderer.
  4. Shoot the murderer if you confirm their identity. Don't hesitate—one shot can end the round.
  5. Protect other innocents, but don't spread yourself too thin.
💡 Tip — The murderer moves faster than you, so positioning and reaction time matter more than chasing. Wait for them to reveal themselves.

How to Play as the Murderer

  1. Use your speed advantage to hunt isolated innocents first. Don't charge into groups.
  2. Eliminate the sheriff if possible. Without them, innocents have no defense.
  3. Change hunting grounds often. Don't stay in one spot where players expect you.
  4. Watch for players working together or hiding in groups. Take them on when they're separated.
  5. Stay away from the sheriff if you're not ready for a direct confrontation.

How Each Role Wins

Innocents win when the sheriff eliminates the murderer or when all murderers are dead.

The Sheriff wins as part of the innocent team by shooting down the murderer.

The Murderer wins by eliminating all innocents before being shot by the sheriff.

Collecting and Trading Knives

Between rounds and after completing matches, you can collect and trade hundreds of different knives. These are cosmetic weapons that show off your progress and style. Trading knives with other players is how you build your collection and customize your arsenal.
