The Abyssal Grenadier is one of the rarest fish you can catch in Fisch—a Mythical-tier deep-sea rattail that spawns only under specific conditions. If you're hunting for this elusive species, you'll need patience, the right bait, and the exact environmental setup. It's worth the effort though: catching one nets you 2000 base XP and a legendary entry for your collection.
What Is the Abyssal Grenadier?
The Abyssal Grenadier is a Mythical fish described as a deep-sea rattail that roams abyssal plains worldwide. It's one of the hardest fish to encounter in Fisch due to its strict spawn conditions. The game calls it "RATTAIL TITAN" or "CRUSHER FROM BELOW" when you land one.
Location and Requirements
You can only catch the Abyssal Grenadier at one location: the Passage of Oaths. To give yourself a chance at spawning one, you must meet all of these conditions at once:
- Bait: Legendary Fish Head
- Time: Night only
- Season: Winter
- Weather: Windy
All four conditions must be active simultaneously. This makes the Abyssal Grenadier a true rare find—you'll need to wait for winter to roll around, then fish at night during a windy spell with the right bait equipped.
Catching Method
Once you've set up the correct conditions, the actual fishing process follows Fisch's standard mechanic:
- Travel to the Passage of Oaths and equip your Legendary Fish Head bait.
- Cast your line by holding down until your bobber lands in the water.
- Wait for a bite. You can shake your rod to attract fish faster if you're impatient.
- When you get a bite, hold down or click to start the minigame. You'll see a white bar and a blue line.
- Follow the blue line as closely as possible with the white bar. Don't panic if you mess up—you get multiple attempts.
- Fill the progress bar at the bottom completely to reel in your catch.
Tips for Success
Plan ahead for winter. Since this fish only appears in winter, mark your calendar and prepare your fishing route in advance. Have your Legendary Fish Head bait ready before the season starts.
Wait for windy weather. Don't just fish any night in winter—keep an eye on the weather. Windy conditions are required, so check the in-game weather before casting.
Use rod shaking to speed up bites. While waiting, shake your rod to attract fish faster. This won't guarantee an Abyssal Grenadier, but it cuts down on idle time between bites.
