Abyssal Maw is a limited fish that is no longer obtainable in Fisch. It was only available during a specific window and has since been removed from the game. If you already caught one, here's everything you need to know about this fearsome deep-water hunter.
About Abyssal Maw
Abyssal Maw is a limited rarity fish that was found in the Cults Curse location. It could be caught with any bait at any time of day or season—weather didn't matter either. The fish is described as "a gaping jagged maw rising from the abyss, with devastating hunger for more than what is imaginable."
When you hooked one, a special alert appeared above your head and a bell sound played, signaling that you'd caught a limited-rarity fish. However, the fight was harder than normal: your progress bar slowed down by 55%, making the reel-in phase much trickier.
Stats & Rewards
Abyssal Maw varied significantly in size and value:
- Weight range: 500 kg (smallest) to 3,550 kg (largest), with an average around 1,150 kg
- Base XP: 1,000 experience per catch
- Average currency value: 1,960 cash
- Sell multiplier: 1.700× (weight in kg × 1.700 = base sell price before perks)
These rewards made it worthwhile to hunt when the fish was in rotation, especially if you found a large specimen.

Catching Tips
- Prepare for the slow fight: The 55% progress penalty meant your pull speed during the fight was significantly reduced. You had to be precise and patient to land the catch.
- Any bait worked: You weren't locked into specific bait types, so you could use whatever you had on hand.
- Mutation hunting was rewarding: With 40+ mutations available, every catch was a chance at something rare and tradeable.
- Value depends on weight: Larger specimens were worth more due to the 1.700× multiplier. Prioritize keeping the heaviest catches.
