Alatheia is a significant character in the Lana Lore, an alternate reality game (ARG) that unfolds within Dress To Impress. She's not a playable character or NPC you'll meet in the main quests—her story exists entirely within the game's deeper lore and the Plague Community section.
Who Is Alatheia
Alatheia is a side character central to the Lana Lore narrative. She's defined by her reluctance and self-doubt, constantly questioning whether her choices were the right ones. Despite her uncertainty, she becomes instrumental in the story's pivotal moments, proving herself more principled than her actions initially suggest.
Her Role in the Herd
Alatheia was recruited into the Herd by Agamemnon, who used a personal incentive to bring her in—he offered to pay for her mother's funeral. She initially believed joining the Herd was what her mother would have wanted, giving her reason to commit to the cause. However, her role took a dramatic turn as the story progressed.
The Turning Point
As Alatheia worked with Agamemnon and Lana, she began to see what they were doing to other characters, particularly Nelly and Nathan. Watching their treatment made her uneasy, and she worried that the Plague Community's patrons didn't know the full truth. Despite these doubts, she continued to work for the Herd, even capturing Nathan after his escape.
Eventually, her morals won out. Alatheia came to realize that the Herd's actions conflicted with her values. She decided to act, but she did so strategically—pretending to remain loyal to Agamemnon and Lana while secretly working with Nelly.
Her Sacrifice
In the climax of her arc, when Nelly was about to be fed to Lana and Agamemnon's creation, Alatheia intervened. She gave Nelly the chance to escape, but in doing so, she sacrificed her own life—becoming consumed by the creature herself.
Her betrayal shocked Lana, who had genuinely trusted her. However, Lana ultimately didn't blame Alatheia for her actions, instead believing that Nelly had influenced her against the Herd. In the end, Lana chose to honor Alatheia's memory and her contributions to what she viewed as the Awakening.
