Brookhaven RP is a free-to-play city roleplay game where you decide who you want to be. Own a house, drive cars, hang out with friends, and create your own stories. The game is all about what you want to do — there's no main quest or boss to defeat.
Let's walk through your first few minutes so you hit the ground running.
Load In and Spawn
When you first join, you'll spawn in the city. You might land near the mall, a street, or a house area depending on server activity. Look around. You'll see other players walking, driving, and sitting in different spots. That's normal — everyone's roleplaying their own story.
Take a moment to check the UI. You'll see buttons and menus on your screen for actions like emotes, props, and houses. Don't panic if it looks like a lot — you'll only use a few things to start.
Pick Your First House
Your first priority is usually to claim a house. Walk or drive toward the residential area. You'll see colorful houses with signs or doors you can interact with.
- Look for a house that appeals to you.
- Walk up to the door or sign and interact with it (click on it or press E, depending on your device).
- If the house is free, you'll be given the option to purchase or claim it.
- Press the button to confirm. You now own this house.
You can buy different houses as you play — the game offers everything from small starter homes to large mansions. There's also a free modern house available as part of a recent update.
Enter and Customize Your House
Once you own a house, go inside. You're now in your personal space — other players can visit if you let them, but you control what happens here.
Inside, you can place furniture and props to decorate. These items come from the shop or spawn as default furniture. You can move things around, remove them, or add new ones if you have the resources. Your house is your roleplay home base.
Get a Vehicle
Cars are everywhere in Brookhaven. They spawn in parking lots, driveways, and streets. To drive:
- Walk up to a car and click on it or press E.
- Get inside.
- Use WASD or arrow keys to drive (or controller sticks on console).
- Press Space or another key to honk or interact with special features.
There are many vehicle types — sedans, sports cars, trucks, and more. You're not locked into one; try different ones as you explore.
Explore the City
The city has several zones worth checking out:
- The Mall — where most players hang out, shop, and socialize. It's a hotspot for roleplay.
- Residential Areas — rows of houses where you can find your own place or visit friends.
- Streets and Parks — open spaces to drive, walk, or just chill.
- Businesses — like cafes or shops where you can roleplay jobs or scenarios.
Drive or walk around and see what catches your eye. This is where you meet other players and get roleplay ideas.
Understand Roleplay Basics
Roleplay in Brookhaven means acting out a character and scenario with other players. You might pretend to be:
- A student heading to school
- A parent running errands
- A friend meeting up for a party
- A business owner at your shop
To roleplay, simply act out your scenario. Talk to other players, use emotes (animated actions like dancing or waving), and create a story together. Other players will pick up on what you're doing and join in or create their own scenes nearby.
There are no rules forcing you into any role — Brookhaven is a sandbox. Do what feels fun.
Use Emotes and Props
Emotes are animations that show emotion or action — sitting down, dancing, laughing, etc. Props are objects you can place and interact with, like furniture, food, or tools.
To use them:
- Open your emote or prop menu (look for a button in your UI).
- Select the one you want.
- Your character will play the animation or the prop will appear.
Props are a huge part of Brookhaven roleplay. Recent updates added new tools, props, and even a castle estate to explore and interact with.
Common Beginner Mistakes
Jumping into conversations without context. Watch what other players are doing first. If they're having a family roleplay, don't suddenly join as an unrelated character without asking. Respect the ongoing scenario.
Being rude or griefing. Brookhaven is about creativity and fun. If someone is roleplaying, don't interrupt or mess with them. Find your own spot or ask to join.
Ignoring the private server option. If you have friends, a private server lets you customize everything — the time of day, weather, props, and more. It's worth it for group roleplay.
Not exploring. There's always something new to find. Check out the different areas, try different cars, and experiment with props. The game rewards curiosity.
Next Steps
Once you're comfortable, try:
- Meeting other players and creating a roleplay scenario together.
- Buying different house styles and decorating them.
- Checking out recent updates like the fireworks tools at the mall or the new castle estate.
- Inviting friends to play and hosting a private server for full control.
Brookhaven RP is as simple or as complex as you make it. Start small, have fun, and let your imagination lead.
